Electrical remedial work is the process of repairing or fixing electrical systems that have failed or are not functioning properly. This type of work is crucial in ensuring the safety of individuals and property, as electrical problems can lead to fires and other hazardous situations. Electrical remedial work can be as simple as replacing a faulty outlet or as complex as rewiring an entire building. It requires a high level of skill and knowledge, as well as adherence to safety standards and regulations. It is important to hire a qualified electrician to perform electrical remedial work, as attempting to do it yourself can be dangerous and may lead to further problems. Regular maintenance and inspections can also help to prevent the need for extensive remedial work in the future.

FAQ'S

When does remedial and rectification works take place?

For a domestic rental property, if the electrical installation condition report is unsatisfactory, you will need to ensure any required remedial work or further investigation is carried out within 28 days or within the time period specified on your report if less than 28 days.

For commercial property, it is recommended to have the remedial works carried out as soon as possible.

How long does remedial and rectification works take to complete?

The time frame can be very subjective and is based on what needs repairing or fixing. Remedial and rectification works, can be anything from fixing a socket outlet to a full house re wire.

We will be able to give you a rough time scale, when we no what works need to be carried out.

What happens when the remedial and rectification works have been completed?

Following the completion of the remedial works, in compliance with BS 7671, a Domestic Electrical Installation Certificate or a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate will be issued, depending on the nature of what remedial works have been carried out. This certificate should be kept with the original EICR and other documentation to demonstrate compliance with BS 7671.

It is not common practice to issue a new "Satisfactory" EICR, however, this is something that we practice as we find most clients prefer having a "Satisfactory EICR" as proof that the electrics are safe.
